To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
-Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Okay, probably not what you were expecting for a Valentines day post... but I was reading that the other night, and with Valentines day right around the corner, it got me thinking. I know a lot of people who are lonely and depressed on this day because they don't have that special person in their life yet, and some who even call today Singles Awareness Day (to each his own... I guess.) And no, you can't blame them. But these verses are just...
true. There is a time and season for
everything in life. One day we'll probably all be married and raising families of our own, and then this will
really hit home for us. Honestly, I'm content with where God has me right now. There are things I'd like to do, and others that I'm pursuing... but as far as a guy goes, it's not time for that yet. And I'm okay with that. Sure it would have been nice to get a dozen roses today with a card saying 'I love you' and a box of chocolates (what girl wouldn't want that?), but I didn't. And I don't need that. I have a family, and most importantly a God, that loves me unconditionally, and for now, that's more than enough. I have all I need for
this season that I'm in. Not much, just my random thoughts for the day... =)
So to all my friends, single or married... happy Valentines day!! Hope it was amazing and blessed.
