Anne - with an 'e'

Anne Of Green Gables. Aaaww, I love this movie!!!!! Yeah, you're probably laughing right about now, but this really is the sweetest movie! My brothers hate it, but that's kinda to be expected. After all, there is a lot of romance in it. Maybe that's why I like it so much... Anyhow, it's basically about this orphan girl who gets adopted by this older brother & sister.. And all the movies are pretty much just about her growing up... Dying her hair green, breaking slates over peoples heads, acting out poetry, insulting nosy neighbors, falling off roofs, almost drowning herself, chasing cows through muddy cabbage patches...And of course, falling in love with Gilbert! :) Yeah, you get it... AND, the whole movie was filmed on Prince Edward Island... A future destination of mine! It's so gorgeous.
So yeah, it's great!! I know this is a somewhat random post... Ok, a REALLY random post...
But I was just thinking how it's been a while since I've seen it, so I thought the next best thing would be to do a post about it! See, I do have SOME logic! ;)
The last scene... Is by far... the best...
"I don't want sunbursts or marble halls... I just want you, Gil" Perfect romantic ending. Ok, so um, the end. lol

Day 14 - A vacation you would like to take

Copy this and paste it if you know someone, or have heard of someone who knows someone. If you don't know anyone, or even if you've heard of someone who doesn't know anyone, then still copy this. It's important to spread the message about absolutely nothing or anyone so that absolutely nothing can happen...... Oh! and the hearts ♥ ♥ ♥ ... for Pete's sake don't forget the hearts! ♥ ♥

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant...

If you have noticed this notice you will have noticed that this notice is not worth noticing

I was looking back to see if you were looking back to see
If I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me

Answered Prayer

Here's an article that I read earlier today on prayer, and thought was really good...

"When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures" (James 4:3).

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

"The best motivator for prayer is answered prayer." My mom has said that to me for years.

I'm not what I would call a "prayer warrior." I have a picture in my head of what a prayer warrior is, and I'm not it. But I pray. Sometimes I pray down a list of requests, other times simply as things come to mind. Occasionally I'll pray straight from a passage in the Bible. I pray at church, at work, at home and even on the trail while running. (The latter prompts amazingly efficient prayers.)

The other night at Bible study, we were talking about prayer. One girl mentioned how she has a hard time being consistent in asking God for something because she fears ultimately being disappointed. "If God already knows what's best," she asked, "then why don't I just leave it to Him? Why should I keep bringing up what I want only to have it not happen?"

It got us all thinking and discussing what it means to wait for God. I have many prayers that I've seen answered, but I rarely record answers to prayer, which is a shame. Sometimes God answers in a snap, and I go forward boldly with a decision. Sometimes I have to start moving in a certain direction and wait for guidance in the process. And other times I wait and wait ... and wait. There are several big things I'm still waiting on. And sure, praying for them can get discouraging. It can even seem pointless. Occasionally I want a break from having to think about those needs or desires at all. But I still pray.
Some of my best moments in prayer have happened in desperation. They're the times I've literally cried out to God--those moments when I said, "God, You need to show up, or I may not make it through tomorrow." Usually it's when I'm powerless to change something, or I've experienced loss or rejection, or I'm grieving. I have prayed at those times (and by "prayed," I mean cried/stomped around/read Scripture/argued/blasted various genres of music) and can remember several instances where I experienced what I can only describe as deliverance. Not a quick fix, but a certain lifting of the burden--an understanding that when I woke up the next morning, things would be different. And miraculously (because even though God never changes, my pipsqueak faith is always shocked by His faithfulness), they were.

One of the girls in my Bible study suggested that we all put a handful of prayer requests on a sheet--some big, some small--and begin praying for them together and then tracking their answers as well as our attitudes in the waiting. I'm excited to do it because I think we'll be surprised at how often God speaks. And if we take the time to remember His work in our lives, it'll motivate us to keep dumping our cares into His hands.

Day 10 - A photo of you taken over 10 years ago

Well I guess I spoke too soon when I first published this! Yeah... So my bro had this ridiculously tacky idea to take a picture of a picture. Aren't we the smartest?!? BUT, when you don't have a scanner ya gotta do what ya gotta do... And it did work!! Besides the glare... lol Anywho, here's me almost 17 years ago!! And just ftr, I'm the one on the way right... ;)
And then.. me at 12!!! heehee..

Preparing to Be a Helpmeet--A Review

Ok, so this book? It's awesome!! Probably the best book I've read this year (yes I know that we're only 25 days into the year, but I've already read a LOT of books :P). But back to the point of this... I meant to write a review on it, but never got around to it. So when I saw that my awesome friend, Tanya, reviewed it, I asked if I could borrow it from her. Being awesome and all, she said sure. :) So yeah, this review is written by her... Enjoy! And to you guys? Um.. you're welcome to skip reading this if you want ;) Now that I said that I know you won't though... haha..
Preparing to Be A Help Meet is about exactly what it's title says, but it is about so much more. It is about getting a life, learning to not be a helpless fragile wisp of a woman(But still be feminine), about investing yourself in ministry, about acquiring skills and making the most of your time. And it's about prayer. Prayer is how the book started, and it was one of the things that stuck with me the most. Debi talked strongly about how prayer changes things (She told a fascinating story about Daniel that I had never heard before!) and challenged girls to be praying for their future husband and for the people around them.

Several chapters are spent on the traits of God that are reflected in men and women. Debi outlines the Kingly(Command), Prophet(Visionary), and Priestly(Steady) types of men as well as the three different types of women--Dreamers, Servants, and Go-to-Gals. This helped me to understand that some characteristics that I had previously thought of as undesirable or even wrong (Such as the commanding way of a King), are simply a different reflection of God's image that I had previously overlooked. Debi speaks strongly to the gals on submission, respect, and honor. I realized that it doesn't matter what kind of guy I marry(If I marry=) if I honor and submit to him as God designed then I don't need to worry about his faults--our marriage will be as blessed as I allow it to be. This section also helped me to understand my Dad and the guys in my life just a bit more.

I was challenged and inspired by the many chapters on gaining knowledge and character NOW. Girls are encouraged to learn, learn, learn all they can! You never know what skills you may need or that may be helpful to your husband! So, I've been learning. I'm starting in on herbs and nutrition, moving on to reflexology, after that, who know's what? I jumped at some chances to try my hand at some plumbing--what a sense of satisfaction! I found this section to be the most helpful because it is great for enriching my life now and for the rest of my life, even if my love story only includes God and me. That's one thing I really loved about this book--it's for any stage of life. I thought it was great because it was very relevant even though I'm not dating, but a friend at work laughed when I said that. She thought it was perfect for her own situation, and she was dating! Debi really encourages young women to be get a life(not focused on yourself, mind you) before you get married so that after you are married you don't sit around an empty house pining away for your man to come home and you don't expect him to focus his every moment around you. She isn't preaching an 'I-can-do-anything-a-man-can-and-by-myself!' gospel, but she does remind girls that we're supposed to be the helper! If that means taking on some things not normally designated to wives so that he can be free to work, or minister, or relax, or whatever, then we should go for it!

And a whole lot more things than everything I've said!(Yes, I know that was completely ungrammatically correct.=P) All I can say is, get it. Get it,get it, read it, apply it!

The book is easiest summarized by Debi herself on the last page.
"If I had to boil this whole book down to one sentence it would be this: Walk in truth and joy, become a servant, study and learn all manner of different skills, practice honoring those in authority over you, and pray for every man you know who seeks the Lord; pray that these men have the heart to labor for the harvest. In all this you will become a Miss Right."

If you get a chance, search the book on youtube and watch the videos that they have. Debi and her daughter Shalom are both funny and very challenging! =)

Just because..

Day 8 - A thank you letter to someone who has changed your life

Alrighty.. A letter to someone who has changed my life. Well, I'm just gonna write a universal letter that's short, sweet, and to the point. So....

Dear People (meaning everyone I've ever known, or will know),
You're awesome, and you've made life a pretty cool thing. All of you, in one way or another, have impacted my life. Whether you're part of my family, a close friend, an arms length kinda friend, an acquaintance, the ice cream guy, or even an enemy. Thanks!! And as always, thanks most of all to God.

Love, Hans

Day 7 - 5 things you couldn't live without

Okay, so obviously there's a lot of things that you literally couldn't live without... Food, water, air.. Ya know, that kinda stuff. BUT, besides all that, my top 5 would be...

1: Jesus. I wouldn't even be alive if it weren't for Him.

2: My family. Wow, life would be ridiculously boring without them!

3: Music. I love music. Making it, listening to it.. It's awesome. This world would be so quiet without it.

4: Good books... I love reading!!! That's my getaway.

5: My hair straightener. Without it? Yeah, we won't go there.. haha

Day 6 - A moment you wish you could relive

Wow, that's a toughy... I've had some really awesome moments in my life that I ALMOST wish I could relive, but those are kinda personal... And then... I have a lot of moments in my life that I wish I could relive, if only to do things differently. Go back and make the right choices. But there's no going back. I guess that's why we need to really think about the consequences of things before we go and jump the gun... It may not seem like a big deal at the moment... But even the smallest things can affect your life in a huge way.

Some things in life...

Are just... relaxing. Sitting around a fire with friends talking about random stuff with absolutely no point, is one of those things.

Fyi... SO glad it's the weekend!!!!

F-A-I-T-H

"God has a perfect plan for us; He never does it all at once, just step by step.. because He wants to teach us to "walk by faith and not by sight"

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
"Fear can keep us up all night... But faith makes one fine pillow"

"Faith is taking the first step... Even when you don't see the whole staircase"
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen"

Seek Me With All Your Heart

Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God
And His righteousness
And all these things shall be added unto you

Man shall not live by bread alone
But by every word
That proceeds from the mouth of God
Allelu Alleluia

Ask and it shall be given unto you
Seek and ye shall find
Knock and the door shall be opened unto you
