"Above all else..."

"The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not evil, ALL the days of her life"

Sound familiar? Of course, everyone knows about the Proverbs 31 woman!! And most women strive to be like her. I mean let's face it, she's a prime example of what a 'perfect' woman would be like. Not that she is perfect, but you get what I'm saying. We're not gonna' talk about the whole chapter though, just these two verses... Proverbs 31:11-12... Mainly verse 11.... "She does him good, and not evil, all the days of her life".... Mainly the word 'ALL'...
I've been to so many Bible studies and whatnot that focus on these verses... But they apply them to married ladies only. Which makes sense seeing as how it's talking about a husband. But I think it applies to us single girls too. In fact I know it does. Because one day, unless God calls us to singleness, we're all gonna' be married...

And, unless God's specifically spoken to you, chances are you don't know who you're going to marry (unless you're engaged or something), but somewhere out there is your guy. My guy. And we need to be honoring him and doing him good. Now. While we're single. I know you've all heard the 'would you be doing that if God were standing here?' Well change that around a little...

Would you be doing that if your husband were standing here? Would he feel loved and honored if he could see you and the way you interact with other guys? Or would he feel like you're 'cheating' on him, so to speak? This is something that, for me, has been hard....
And I've failed in this area more than you'd care to know. But God is a gracious and forgiving God who's ALWAYS there to pick us back up and get us back on track. And for that I am VERY thankful!! So, I want to challenge each of you to honor your future husband. Starting today. Now. Don't flirt, don't give your heart away to a new guy every month, stop saying 'well maybe he's the one'. Save yourself, in every way, for your guy. And I'm writing this post as much to myself as I am anyone else. Just something I've been studying and thinking about a lot lately that I thought I'd share with you all. :)

"Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil." - Proverbs 4:23-27

"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart" -Proverbs 37:4
